Sports Injury Rehab
Sports injury rehab is physical therapy for injuries from sports and exercise, and it aims to reduce pain, rebuild strength and help you return safely to the activity you love. Sports physical therapy here covers high school athletes, weekend warriors and competitors in El Paso, Texas, and our staff is bilingual.
Sports PT near me, for every level of athlete
If you are searching for sports PT near me, the question is whether the clinic treats your sport and your age. Our team works with high school athletes, weekend warriors and professional competitors. Anyone with an activity-related injury can benefit, whether or not you play a competitive sport.
Our team includes licensed physical therapists, athletic trainers and McKenzie Method certified clinicians. We treat the whole athlete, not just the sore part, so programs focus on pain relief, injury prevention and long-term strength.
Sports injuries we treat
Each of these has its own detail on the body-part pages we link.
- Muscle strains and ligament sprains
- ACL and meniscus injuries (see knee pain)
- Rotator cuff tears and shoulder injuries (see shoulder pain)
- Tennis elbow (see elbow pain)
- Achilles tendonitis and shin splints (see foot and ankle pain)
- Hip and groin overuse injuries (see hip pain)
- Runner's knee and other overuse injuries
- Concussions (see concussion care)
How we rehab an athletic injury
Every program starts with an evaluation of your strength, flexibility, movement patterns, balance and range of motion. Then we build a plan for your injury, your sport and your recovery timeline. It may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, stretching and strengthening, balance and stability training, sport-specific movement training and a home program.
For some athletes we add an anti-gravity treadmill, which lets you run or walk with less of your body weight on a painful joint (see our anti-gravity treadmill), heated aquatic therapy at our Physicians clinic (see aquatic therapy) and functional dry needling (see dry needling).

ACL rehab, running injury care and youth sports injury
After an ACL tear or repair, rehab moves from swelling and motion to strength, then agility and sport movement. If you had surgery, see post-surgical rehab. For a running injury, we look at how you move, your training load and where the strain builds. A youth sports injury needs the same care with an eye on growth, school and the next season, and we explain the plan to parents.
Sports rehab questions
Do I need a referral for sports rehab?
Many patients can start without a physician referral, since Texas allows direct access. We can also help verify your insurance benefits.
How long does sports injury rehab take?
It depends on the injury and how severe it is. Some people improve within a few weeks, while others need a longer program.
How do I know I am ready to return to sport?
You are ready when your strength, movement and confidence match what your sport demands, and your therapist has checked that with you. We work closely with you on safe return-to-play decisions.
Will you work with my coach or trainer?
Yes, with your permission. We share the plan and the limits with the people who run your practices and games.
